10th December 2014

Who doesn't love a party? Especially one in which the whole entire world turns out to celebrate!

We're talking of course about New Years; a time for fun, friends, fireworks and maybe even a bit of that nose tickling ‘bubbly.' If  you're looking for that festive hotspot for the big mid-decade bash for 2015/2016, we're confident that these exciting New Year's destinations will not only put you in the party spirit but will start your new year off with a bang. So get your noise makers ready, put your party hats on and prepare for the revelry already brewing in these five incredible cities.

The first major city to ring in the New Year, Auckland kicks off the festive holiday in true style. Setting the mood, glittering waterfront celebrations are broadcast around the globe as an impressive fireworks display erupts from atop the Southern Hemisphere's tallest freestanding structure, the Sky Tower. Enjoy the kaleidoscope of colours on a delightful harbour cruise or join in the fun at one of the many upscale restaurants, bars and lounges located along the stylish waterfront.

Full of lights, fireworks and pageantry, New Year's Eve for Singaporeans is a culturally significant event symbolising the past giving way to the future. The optimism for a hopeful future is reflected in the grand celebrations that take place throughout the city, and nowhere is this reflected more brilliantly than at Marina Bay. At the stroke of midnight this city explodes in a fantastic show of lights and fireworks, the likes of which is not seen anywhere in the region. With concerts, street parties and attractions such as the Singapore Flyer to enjoy, Singapore is sure to dazzle.

It's difficult to compete with the mysterious glow of the dreamy Northern Lights, but Reykjavik goes all out with a man made light show of its own. The Icelandic people are known for their festive spirit and everyone gets in on the fun with their own fireworks displays, neighbourhood parties, bonfires and holiday parades. The big event of the night however is the fireworks show on the Reykjavik waterfront. One of the largest fireworks events in the world, the glittering light show provides mesmerising reflections across the ‘Bay of Smokes.'

A short flight from New York, Toronto is a great alternative to the noise and crowds found in the Big Apple. Far from living in the shadow of the larger cities found ‘south of the border' though, Toronto is a city with a pulse all its own. Here, locals embrace their wintery climate, celebrating the New Year with ice skating, live musical performances and of course a huge fireworks display, all located in the historic and stately Nathan Phillips Square in the centre of the city.

A full 23 hours after Auckland rings in the New Year, Honolulu is the last major city in the world to welcome 2015 and 2016. Enjoy the Polynesian influenced New Year's festivities with a tiki-torch lit beach party and festive luau complete with traditional dance or head into world famous Waikiki and witness the impressive fireworks display as the sound of the gentle Pacific waves roll in. Never short on places to eat, drink and shop, Waikiki is filled with upscale restaurants, trendy bars and clubs and the best in luxury hotels, resorts and shops.
