Let your travel turn on a light…and transform the life of a child.

We would like to ask you, as valued clients, to transform the life of a child by adding a Solar Buddy donation to your booking and help end energy poverty in Vanuatu by giving the gift of light. By adding a SolarBuddy to your booking, not only will you help do something transformational, you will also have the opportunity to connect with the child who receives the light by writing your own special message. By donating a SolarBuddy for $25 you are helping light up a child’s world, and their future.

SolarBuddy is dedicated to empowering the next generation by providing children with an environmentally friendly SolarBuddy solar light so they can study after dusk. To achieve this, Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has joined forces with SolarBuddy to help end energy poverty in a number of locations around the world, with the initial focus on the delivery of 42,000 lights – enough to light up Vanuatu. Each light is estimated to help at least five people, thousands of lives will be brightened by this solar solution.

SolarBuddy, a registered Australian charity, has made it its mission to help improve the educational opportunities of six million children living in energy poverty across the South Pacific, South East Asia and Africa by 2030. The link between education and enabling children to break the cycle of poverty is irrefutable.

Beyond the South Pacific, SolarBuddy has programs around the globe including South Africa, Asia and Central America to change the lives of children living in energy poverty through its innovative school education and corporate engagement programs.

It truly is an international crisis as across our planet 1.4 billion people are living in energy poverty. It’s hard to imagine, when the sun sets that millions of families, some of the world’s poorest, are either plunged into complete darkness or, if there is fuel available for lighting, they have to rely on dangerous fuels like kerosene. This causes families’ health and children’s education to suffer, and so the cycle of poverty continues. This situation is especially tough on children and has a profound impact on their ability to learn, health and wellbeing, and economic stability.

We believe that FCTG through the commitment and passion of our people and people like you, our clients, can make this a reality for the children in Vanuatu with a purchase of a SolarBuddy light and give them a brighter future…ask your Travel Associates advisor today.
