South-East Queensland: Mountains to Beach

2nd November 2020

Dane Walsh from Travel Associates Mountain Creek in Queensland has shared his ideal nature getaway exploring both inland mountain ranges and beachside coastlines.

“South-East Queensland is home to many exciting holiday options for locals and tourists. There are however some lesser-known regions which are equally enjoyable, but are far less busy and offer some truly unique experiences. My two recommendations are to consider a visit to the famous Bunya Mountains and the laid-back beachside town of Rainbow Beach.”

Bunya Mountains

“Enjoy a leisurely 2.5-hour drive from Brisbane through wondrous winding mountain roads towards the famous Bunya Mountains. As you navigate your way through the region, you’ll find dome-shaped bunya pines scattered atop the forest canopy, coupled with the unmistakable soothing scent of eucalyptus trees filling the air around you.”

“The perfect way to explore this region, is to find yourself a luxury cottage nestled amidst this spectacular forest. If you visit the region in winter, make sure you stay somewhere with a fireplace where you can enjoy a glass of red in the evening.”

“Don’t forget to pack your walking gear as the area features over 40kms of walking tracks - all tailored so you can enjoy a short stroll or a brisk hike through mountainous inclines. The endless options for exploring means it’s perfect for everybody - whether you’re an active adventurer or a family with young children. After a morning walk, enjoy a coffee at Poppies on the Hill - a quaint cafe offering picture perfect views.”

Rainbow Beach

“Rainbow Beach is a heavenly sub-tropical, coastal town and is summed up best as an aquatic lover playground. You can enjoy everything that a beachside holiday lends itself to, like leisurely beach walks, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and dolphin spotting, and day trips to Fraser Island.”

Rainbow Sea Resort, Queensland

“There are many different luxury resorts to choose from. My pick was Rainbow Seas Resort which offered amazing beach and Fraser Island views and centrally located near shops, cafes and restaurants. The perfect morning coffee or sunset beers can be had at The Deck at Sea Salt.”

“For those that enjoy independent holidays with luxury touches, I would highly recommend exploring these two regions. It’s truly amazing how many amazing experiences exist so close to home.”
