Three Resorts, Three Sides of the Maldives

In August 2026, I travelled to the Maldives with Luxury Escapes, flying directly from Melbourne to Malé on its charter service. Although the surroundings were consistently spectacular, moving between three resorts demonstrated that the Maldives experience is shaped by much more than the view.

My biggest takeaway was that the Maldives is not a one-size-fits-all destination. Selecting the right island and resort is essential, whether the priority is privacy and relaxation, stylish social spaces or a more contemporary luxury experience. The ease of flying directly from Melbourne also changed how I thought about the destination, making it feel suitable for a focused luxury break rather than only a once-in-a-lifetime extended holiday.
