One&Only Gorilla's Nest, Rwanda

Rwanda

In the foothills of Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, One&Only Gorilla's Nest sits at the edge of one of the few places on earth where mountain gorillas can still be encountered in their natural habitat. Surrounded by eucalyptus forest and framed by the volcanic peaks of the park beyond, the resort places guests within close reach of gorilla trekking, golden monkey encounters, and guided volcano hikes. An all-inclusive retreat, where every detail, from the garden-grown produce on the plate to the Imigongo art in the suite, is drawn from Rwanda itself.

"Few encounters in travel compare to tracking mountain gorillas on foot, and One&Only Gorilla's Nest is one of the loveliest ways to experience it. The treehouses are beautiful - suspended among the eucalyptus at canopy level - and with dining changing venue and menu each evening, no two nights feel the same."

One&Only Gorillas Nest

Tell me more:

One&Only Gorilla's Nest sits in Kinigi, in Rwanda's Musanze District, at the threshold of Volcanoes National Park. The property is built into the volcanic foothills, with free-standing treehouses and suites elevated into the surrounding eucalyptus forest. The landscape does much of the work: roses and eucalyptus grow year-round in the fertile Rwandan soil, and every plant and tree has been chosen to support flourishing wildlife. That same garden contributes to the welcome drink, the evening meal, and the logs on the fire. Dining follows a "different venue, different menu" philosophy — garden-to-table cuisine drawing on Rwandan flavours and international technique, led by a team of world-class chefs. The interiors carry the same ethos, blending Rwandan craftsmanship and African heritage through hand-painted Imigongo art, a curated library of books, and binoculars left ready in every suite.

Why it's one-of-a-kind:

This is a resort shaped entirely by its setting. Treehouses suspended among eucalyptus, gardens cultivated for both flourishing wildlife and guest kitchens, and a dining concept that changes venue and menu every evening. It's one of very few all-inclusive offerings at this level in East Africa, and the only resort of its kind perched on the edge of Volcanoes National Park — the sanctuary for Rwanda's mountain gorillas. Beyond the gorilla trek, guests have access to golden monkey trekking, volcano hikes, and experiences rooted in Rwandan culture and craft.
