AmaWaterways has the biggest ship on the river

A game changer for AmaWaterways River Cruises is the AmaMagna, the largest ship on the time-honoured Danube River. The flagship of the fleet is double the width of other river ships yet she carries only 20 per cent more passengers – 196 – allowing the luxury of space. AmaMagna boasts luxurious accommodations consisting of more than 50 percent suites, has four unique dining venues, the Zen Wellness Studio, a cinema, and the first full size pickleball court on a river cruise ship. As with all AmaWaterways ships, most of the staterooms on AmaMagna feature a French balcony or a twin-balcony, which consists of a French balcony and a full-size step-out balcony, ensuring uninterrupted panoramas of castles, vine-clad hillsides and storybook towns passing by.

    In tune with Colombia

AmaWaterways is known for its innovations, with many firsts in its 24-year history. In April 2025, the forward-thinking river cruise line became the first to unveil luxury river cruises on the captivating Magdalena River in Colombia. The 64-guest AmaMelodia and 60-guest AmaMagdalena are custom-built, all-suite, eco-friendly ships that sail between Cartagena and Barranquilla on two itineraries, the ‘Magic of Colombia’ or ‘Wonders of Colombia’. Colombia has so much to offer, with culture, colour, music and coffee, and for cruisers seeking fresh horizons and cultural immersion, this is for you. There are many incredible excursions, including a special Carnaval celebration in Barranquilla, walking tours into UNESCO-listed walled cities and other historic sites, seeing wildlife unique to Colombia’s biodiverse ecosystem, getting lost in the Latin American rhythms and riding in an authentic paola bike taxi.

    A family affair with AmaWaterways

AmaWaterways embraces the joy of multi-generational travel, inviting families to experience the magic of river cruising together. Understanding the growing trend for multi-generational trips that include grandparents, parents and children, many of AmaWaterways’ ships offer connecting staterooms with triple and quadruple occupancy. It is also perfect for the new trend of ‘skip-gen’ travel, where grandparents take their grandkids away, leaving parents free to have a break and reconnect while they forge stronger ties with the next generation. These connecting rooms allow families to stay close while still enjoying their own space and comfort. Onshore, AmaWaterways has a choice of 23 excursions included over a week to cater for all three generations, from the slower-paced to the active teenager.

  • “Having a tour of St Mark’s Basilica in Venice without the crowds was a highlight – one of many on what was the most superb river cruise I’ve done.”
